@ Muddy Waters:
You may be right. But then again, I would rather be told the truth than to live a lie, age aside.
some quick background information: my dad (her firstborn son) died unexpectedly this past october.
his death has really hit our family hard.
personally, i have not totally come to terms with this.

I am struggling. He went in for “routine” surgery and never left the hospital. WTF? This man did everything for everybody (witness or not).
My grandma hasn’t been going to the meetings regularly for several years now, perhaps because of depression and poor health. When my dad died, this put her over the edge. My aunt (her daughter) who lives with her tries to get her ready for the meetings, but she is slow to get ready or says she is not feeling up to it.
Being that she is in her 90’s, you can see why she doesn’t go to meetings regularly. However, I think that there is more to it. Even though she is advanced in age and in failing health, her spiritual mind is still sharp. It is worth mentioning that she wanted to contact her disfellowshipped great-granddaughter (my niece) recently, but was talked out of it.
Could it be that with all of the recent changes within the org that her faith is beginning to waiver? With the death of my dad, could it be that her faith has taken even more of a hit?
It will be interesting to see if she comes to the memorial this year.
If her faith can be compromised, anyone’s can.
banned: proof we are true christian's because we are being persecuted!
(despite the other extreme religions in the same boat).
not banned: no man can forge a weapon against jehovah!
It's a win-win either way for the org.
i got this account second hand.
a former bethelite was reassigned to a local congregation.
he had been at bethel for years and is now in his fifties.
When I was growing up, Bethel service was the ultimate goal for young people. Ten years from now, the org will say: "We never said anything about Bethel service."
i think it would be great if the gb could testify on behalf of the russia brothers they say care so much about.
if nothing else it would show the dear russian brothers that jehovahs organization has their back.
and give them moral support.
"Are any of the governing body going to russia for the court case?!"
Are you kiddin' me?

Those are good questions that I don't have the answers to.

That's just it. He won't be getting a social security check because he was at Bethel during most of his adult life and did not pay in to it.

@ Londo111:
According to my source, yes. Perhaps another laid-off Bethelite on this forum can confirm the exact wording of these termination letters.

A former Bethelite was reassigned to a local congregation. He had been at Bethel for years and is now in his fifties. He was in a field service group and the conversation revolved around his time at Bethel. As the conversation progressed, he explained that one day he went to his room and on his bed was a note. The note simply said: “Congratulations. You have been reassigned to the field.” The car group asked how that made him feel. After a long awkward pause, he said: “Well…it was a test.”
Now he works for another brother and is barely getting by. He has no secular education and is almost 60. No retirement. No social security built up. No nothing. Blame should be given to this brother for sure. But blame should ultimately be left at the doorstep of the org.
This is just one of the many experiences of a prototypical laid-off
Bethelite.
